Planning what to do with children during the October half term? Explore, dream and play at The Hepworth Wakefield this autumn!

We’re open every day during the Wakefield half-term, offering an array of activities to try: from garden play and to trails through the galleries, to drop-in workshops led by local artists where you can make something to take home.

It’s the perfect opportunity to get creative as a family.

FREE with an exhibition ticket.

Exhibition tickets are FREE for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.

Non-Wakefield residents can get 50% off a standard adult ticket when visiting with a child during the Wakefield school holidays. Use discount code FAMILY50 when booking online or in person. (One discounted adult ticket per child.)

Where to eat

Our café serves food for children or bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the garden or our indoor picnic area.

Facilities

The Hepworth Wakefield is accessible, has baby changing facilities and plenty of room for buggies and pushchairs. For access information about the gallery please visit our access page. Please note that the playground is currently closed for redevelopment.

Family Workshop: Sculpture Portraits

Transform yourself into a sculpture!

Visit the Ronald Moody: Sculpting Life exhibition with your family to explore the sculpture portraits of Ronald’s friends and family.

In the Clore learning studio make a wearable sculpture, experiment with colourful card and templates to build a 3D portrait to take home.

Younger children can play with making faces and expressions on the portrait wall.

Garden Play

Come and play in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. Stack, build, experiment, draw and imagine with your family in the open air. Be inspired by the garden’s artworks and plants, the weather and buildings around you.

No need to book, just turn up and play!
