Sylvia Snowden: Painting Humanity

This spring, The Hepworth Wakefield will open the first public gallery exhibition in Europe of African-American painter Sylvia Snowden's work. Presenting a selection of work from a career that spans six decades, this exhibition will including large early paintings through to more recent works.

The Hepworth Family Gift / Hepworth At Work

The Hepworth Family Gift consists of 44 full size, rarely seen working models - surviving prototypes in plaster and aluminium made in preparation for the works in bronze Hepworth executed from the mid-1950s to the end of her career.

Family Workshop: Spring Drawing

Sat 20 & Sun 21 April, drop-in 11am - 4pm (closed for lunch 1 - 1.30pm). FREE with an exhibition ticket

Move through the learning studio to create a 'garden of drawings' featuring birds, plants and trees. Join in with large drawing activities and try out new materials and techniques or make your own spring drawings to take home. Suitable for families with children aged 2 - 12.

This spring, come and play in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. Stack, build, experiment, draw and imagine with your family in the open air. Be inspired by the garden’s artworks and plants, the weather and buildings around you. No need to book, just turn up and play.

Still Lives

This spring, The Hepworth Wakefield will explore the theme of still life in a new exhibition. Still Lives will display more than 70 works by over 50 artists across two galleries, illustrating the enduring nature of the still life genre throughout different moments in art history.

Andrew Cranston: What made you stop here?

Andrew Cranston will hold his first solo exhibition in a UK public institution this November at The Hepworth Wakefield. The exhibition will feature new and recent paintings, focusing on Cranston’s works post 2016.
