Come and play in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. Stack and build, experiment, draw and imagine with your family in the open air. Be inspired by the garden’s artworks and plants, the weather, and buildings around you.
Artist Steph Jefferies and architects Studio Polpo worked with The Castle Nursery in Wakefield to create a new play resource for families to use in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden. The children and nursery staff generously shared, played and experimented with us, exploring themes of nature, seasons and weather linked to artworks in the gallery.
Children must be accompanied at all times, a maximum of 3 children per accompanying adult.
Please dress appropriately for the weather. The session will go ahead in all but the most extreme conditions. Bring a change of clothes in case your child gets messy or wet.
On arrival, please make you way to the Welcome desk and a member of our team will direct you to the session location.
Toilets, hand washing and baby changing facilities are available inside the gallery building. If there is a queue, please inform a member of staff that you are attending the Garden Play session and they will let you straight in to use the facilities.
If you can not attend a session please cancel your booking so that other families can join the session, even if it is a few hours before.
We will hold places for 10 minutes after the start time but will then invite any waiting families to join after that time.
* Please be aware that Garden Play sessions will not be taking place on Saturday 25 September.
