We offer an exciting range of artist-led workshops suitable from Early Years through to Key Stage 5.
Explore new ways of looking, thinking and making with artists at The Hepworth in our range of practical workshops.
These skills-based workshops are led by professional artists who take students on a creative journey, gathering inspiration from artworks in the galleries and developing these ideas through creative work in our learning studios.

Workshop cost: £165 for Wakefield district schools / £185 for non-Wakefield district schools. All materials and resources are provided.
Duration: Two hours (Early Years workshops last for 1 hour 30 minutes).
Suitable for: Up to 33 students per workshop. Workshops are tailored to your group and key stage.

Exploring Barbara Hepworth’s inspiration of the landscape, students will create layered drawings in the galleries. In the learning studios students will explore the printmaking process and create their own collagraph prints, inspired by their drawings.Read More

Using Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures as inspiration, students will experience a series of drawing activities that explore tone, texture and line. They’ll then develop these techniques in our learning studios, experimenting with different materials.Read More
Barbara Hepworth's Life
For Key Stage 1 - 4 (available Wed - Fri)
Working solely in our galleries, students will discover more about Barbara Hepworth’s life, artwork and her connection with the Yorkshire landscape before creating sculptures inspired her artwork.Read More

Using a range of tools and techniques, students will create clay sculptures inspired by natural objects and the shapes and textures of Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures.Read More
For Key Stage 1 - 3
Students will be taken on a journey through the felt making process, developing their understanding of textiles. Using inspiration from the galleries, students will create expressive, colourful felted fabric.Read More
Mixed Media Sculpture
For key stage 1 - 4
Students will investigate Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures and explore 2D and 3D in the galleries before making collaborative mixed media sculptures in the learning studios.Read More

Students will make their own unique sketchbooks to use during a series of creative drawing activities in the galleries, exploring the artworks and exhibitions.Read More
