From carving soap sculptures to making Barbara Hepworth-inspired hats, art trails to garden play, have fun together and learn new skills to keep kids busy all summer.
Make a day of it and bring a picnic to enjoy in our garden or treat yourself in our café. You can stay cool all summer-long in the air-conditioned galleries and indoor picnic area.

FREE for kids & Wakefield residents
Family activities are FREE with an exhibition ticket. Exhibition tickets are FREE for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.
50% off when visiting with kids
Non-Wakefield residents can get 50% off a standard adult ticket when visiting with a child during the Wakefield school holidays, 18 July – 31 August 2026. Use discount code FAMILY50 when booking online or in person. One discounted adult ticket per child. Full price entry to the exhibitions is £13 / £11.
Great British Summer Savings
Kids can enjoy a reduced price menu as part of the Great British Summer Savings scheme which sees VAT on qualifying children’s meals temporarily cut from 20% to 5%. Valid until 31 August 2026.
Summer holidays Membership
For just £26, families can enjoy six weeks of Membership to The Hepworth Wakefield which opens unlimited entry to our exhibitions and free access to our family workshops.

Getting here
You can find us at The Hepworth Wakefield, Gallery Walk, Wakefield, WF1 5AW. Our car park is located on Thornes Lane, WF1 5QJ.
The gallery is 0.3 miles from Wakefield Kirkgate train station (approximately 8 minutes walk) and 1 mile from Westgate train station (approximately 20 minutes walk).
Where to eat
Our café serves food for children or bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our garden or indoor picnic area.
Facilities
The Hepworth Wakefield is accessible with baby changing facilities and a Changing Places toilet as well as a space to leave buggies and pushchairs.
