The Hepworth Wakefield is open every day during the Wakefield school holidays with an array of activities to try: from Art Pods and trails through the galleries to drop-in workshops led by local artists where you can make something to take home.
It’s the perfect opportunity to get creative as a family.
Ticket offer for families
Family activities are FREE with an exhibition ticket.
Exhibition tickets are FREE for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.
Non-Wakefield residents can get 50% off a standard adult ticket when visiting with a child during the Wakefield school holidays. Use discount code FAMILY50 when booking online or in person. (One discounted adult ticket per child.) Full price entry to the exhibitions is £14 / £12.50 for non-Wakefield District residents.

Family Workshop: Surreal Printing

Explore the ideas and stories in the Forbidden Territories: 100 Years of Surreal Landscapes exhibition then join print artist Rachel Sim in the Clore Learning Studios to create colourful collage and prints inspired by the artworks.

Pick up an activity sketchbook to discover birds, mini-beasts, plants and trees in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden with our new biodiversity activity booklet. Collect from the welcome desk or garden café.

The Hepworth Wakefield has its own car park located on Thornes Lane, WF1 5QJ
The gallery is 0.3 miles from Wakefield Kirkgate train station (approximately 8 minutes walk) and 1 mile from Westgate train station (approximately 20 minutes walk).
Where to eat
Our café serves food for children or bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our indoor picnic area.
Facilities
The Hepworth Wakefield is accessible, has baby changing facilities and a buggy park in our picnic are. For access information about the gallery please visit our access page.
Warm space
The Hepworth Wakefield invites our local community to share our warm space this winter. You are welcome to sit, read, play, draw and stay as long as you wish. You will find books, magazines, comfortable seating, drawing materials and play activities – all for free. Please help yourself to a hot drink and biscuits. Packed lunches can be eaten here and you can charge your mobile phone or laptop too.
