Join in fun creative activities for all ages in the galleries, learning studios and garden.

Sensory Play  
Play and explore with materials and textures inspired by water and flow linked to Barbara Hepworth’s artworks.

Garden Play
Stack, build, experiment, draw and imagine with your family in the open air.

What’s in our Garden?
Pick up an activity sketchbook to discover the birds, mini-beasts and plants in our garden.

Family Workshop: Sculpture Portraits
Make a wearable sculpture using colourful card and templates to build a 3D portrait to take home.

IN THE EXHIBITIONS

Art Pod
Join us at the Art Pod to make your own artwork inspired by what you see.

Explore & Draw
Borrow looking tools, handling objects and drawing materials to explore the galleries.

WET WEATHER 

If it’s a rainy day, we will have plenty of activities indoors or you can pick up an Explore & draw kit from the welcome desk. Our indoor picnic area will be open with plenty of space to eat a packed lunch in the dry.

TICKET OFFER

Activities in the galleries are free with an exhibition ticket.

Exhibition tickets are FREE for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.

Non-Wakefield residents can get 50% off a standard adult ticket when visiting with a child during the Wakefield school holidays. Use discount code FAMILY50 when booking online or in person. (One discounted adult ticket per child.)

USEFUL INFORMATION

Playday welcomes children of all ages. Children must be accompanied at all times. Remember to dress suitably for all weather conditions!

WHERE TO EAT

Our café serves a special menu for children or bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our indoor picnic area or out in the garden. The Garden Café will be open serving hot and cold drinks, toasted sandwiches, cakes and ice cream.

FACILITIES

The Hepworth Wakefield is accessible, has baby changing facilities and plenty of room for buggies and pushchairs. For further access information can be found here.
