This collection exhibition focused on post-war painting and sculpture and featured work by Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland, Eduardo Paolozzi and Reg Butler.
The display examined the destabilisation of the body, the contrast between mass and flesh in painting and the stripping down and opening out of the figure in sculpture.
Drawing on Wakefield’s Art Collection the displays were augmented by key loans from the national collections at Tate, the Arts Council and private lenders.
