Light Up Wakefield: Nectary

Fri 17 Nov, 4 - 8pm, Sat 18 & Sun 19 Nov, 11am - 8pm

For Light Up Wakefield, The Hepworth Wakefield will present Nectary – six huge glowing flowers handcrafted from recycled materials that invite visitors to experience them from the viewpoint of a pollinating insect.

Created by artist Alison Smith and scientist Dr. Chris Hassall, this light and sound installation in The Hepworth Wakefield’s sunken garden explores what we can gain from listening to nature, and the vital role pollinating insects play in our survival.

This year’s Light Up Wakefield features a spectacular trail of installations across the city centre and beyond. Find out more on the Experience Wakefield website.

This event is funded with a Culture Grant by Wakefield Council.

During the Light Up weekend, visitors can also purchase a £6 exhibition ticket. Exhibition entry is free for Wakefield District residents, Members and under 18s.

Please note that Galleries 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be closed on Fri 17, Sat 18 and Sun 19 Nov.
