We present an ambitious programme of major exhibitions of the best international modern and contemporary art, alongside innovative displays drawn from Wakefield’s growing art collection. Central to our work is our learning programme that engages schools, families, adults and local community groups through inspiring creative learning opportunities.

In 2019, we opened The Hepworth Wakefield Garden, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, to complement our David Chipperfield-designed gallery and provide an inspiring public garden, free for all to enjoy. We are currently delivering two capital projects to complete our wider waterfront site, including returning our much-loved playground and creating a workshop and yard space for our Gardener and her team of volunteers.

Garden & Estates Caretaker

£13.45 per hour

Part-time – 15 hours per week / 3 hours per day across five days, including two weekend days per month

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months

The Hepworth Wakefield incorporates a large estate, including a widely celebrated garden. The Garden & Estates Caretaker will support the Cultural Gardener to ensure our high standards for the presentation of our site are maintained through a variety of maintenance tasks, as well as supporting our Estates Team with minor tasks and supporting the set-up of our larger events, such as fairs and markets. The right candidate will be interested in gardening and maintenance, with a variety of practical skills, as well as being keen to learn new skills.

Visitor Experience Supervisor

£27,052 per annum pro rata

Part-time, 30 hours per week across 4 days, according to a rota and including weekends

Permanent

We are seeking a Visitor Experience Supervisor to join our Visitor Services team. This is a key role that takes the lead in ensuring that all visitors are welcomed and safe at the gallery and in the garden on a day-to-day basis. You will be visitor focused with excellent customer service skills whilst able to be proactive and reactive to issues that may arise in a public building. You will also have excellent operational qualities, including opening and closing the gallery, be driven to meet commercial goals and lead a visitor facing team to ensure that all our visitors have an amazing experience.

Visitor Welcome Assistant

£13.45 per hour

Permanent

Part-time – 33.75 hours per week across five days, including weekends.

We are seeking an energetic and personable individual to join the Visitor Experience team as a Visitor Welcome Assistant. You will provide visitors with a warm and informative welcome at our front desk and support us to meet the gallery’s financial targets through securing ticket and event sales, converting visitors into supporters of the gallery through our membership scheme and generally ensuring we are maximising commercial opportunities, whilst ensuring all our visitors have a wonderful welcome to the gallery.

Casual Catering Assistant

£13.45 per hour

Hours offered as and when available

Since bringing our café in house 4 years ago, we’ve seen year on year growth, as the gallery has driven increased visitor numbers to the site and our impressive menu converts more of those visitors to our customers. We’re anticipating more growth in the years ahead, which is why we’re looking to expand our team of casuals to bolster our numbers during busy periods and maintain the highest levels of service and guest experience. If you take pride in serving up high quality food and drink, enjoy providing a memorable customer experience and are motivated to be contribute to a vital income stream to fund the gallery’s work, we’d love to hear from you.

As well as being a key feature of any visit to The Hepworth Wakefield, our café is a destination in its own right, with people travelling for miles to enjoy our seasonal and sustainable menu that champions local suppliers, attend our catered public and private events and be part of our sell-out supper clubs.
