Support The Hepworth Wakefield's important work with people living with dementia
12 Mar 2025
From midday on Tuesday 18 March until midday Tuesday 25 March 2025, The Hepworth Wakefield will be launching a week-long Big Give campaign to raise funds to support the gallery's Dementia-friendly Creative Café.
What makes this campaign so powerful is that all donations received during this week will be DOUBLED by the generous match funding pledged by Big Give.
About Creative Café
The Dementia-friendly Creative Café is a special strand of our work that provides a safe and stimulating space for people living with dementia, their carers, friends and family to take part in specially-designed, multi-sensory workshops – or simply to join us for a chat and cup of tea.
The monthly, free-to-access sessions are designed to combat the erosive and isolating nature of dementia, helping participants connect with one-another through creative activities inspired by our art and exhibitions.
Creative Café is delivered in partnership with Creative Minds, a charity hosted by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
What people say...
‘My favourite thing is when you hear a carer say ‘I never thought she could do that’ or ‘I thought that wasn’t possible anymore.’ Bryony Pritchard, Creative Café artist
‘Everybody here smiles and talks to my Mum and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make any sense what she’s saying in return. Often, if you’re out and about, that’s something you worry about, people not understanding. I love the gallery anyway and this group just feels really creative and accepting.’ Creative Café participant
How you can support our Dementia-friendly Creative Café
The Hepworth Wakefield is a charity and the funds raised will enable us to continue to deliver this important programme.
Any way you can support our campaign – whether by donating yourself, or encouraging friends and family to do so – would be greatly appreciated.
Every pound donated between midday Tuesday 18 and midday Tuesday 25 March will be match funded by Big Give, making your donation worth twice the amount.
Donations are via the Big Give website from midday on Tuesday 18 March.
