The Hepworth Wakefield
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm*

Closed Mondays except bank holidays and Wakefield school holidays.

*Winter opening hours from Tuesday 5 November 2024 until Thursday 13 March 2025.

Exhibition entry is £14 / £12.50 FREE for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s. Ticket includes entry to all our gallery spaces on the day of visit.

Book online and save £1 off standard adult, senior over 65, full-time student and disabled ticket types. Discount will be applied at the checkout.

By bus

The gallery is on the FreeCityBus route operated every 10-12 minutes from 7.30am to 6.36pm, Monday to Fridays and between 8.30pm and 5pm on Saturdays.

There is no charge to travel on the FreeCityBus.

The service does not run on Sundays.

The bus route includes Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate train stations, Wakefield bus station, Ridings Shopping Centre, Trinity Walk and other city centre drop offs and is every 10 minutes.

The Hepworth Wakefield bus stop is adjacent to the Wakefield Waterfront on A61 Barnsley Road and the gallery. All journeys on the bus are free of charge and each FreeCityBus is accessible and can carry one wheelchair at a time.

Wakefield bus station is located on Union Street, Wakefield WF1 3AG.

The gallery is situated on the main bus routes with services provided by all operators which stop on Bridge Street immediately adjacent to The Hepworth Wakefield.

By train

The gallery is 0.3 miles from Wakefield Kirkgate train station (approximately 8 minutes walk) and 1 mile from Westgate train station (approximately 20 minutes walk).

We have installed a cycle rack by our Blue Badge bays near the main entrance.

We also have a Wonders of Wakefield cycle map alongside our cycle racks thanks to Wakefield District Cycle Forum

By car

The Hepworth Wakefield has its own car park located on Thornes Lane, WF1 5QJ

Please note there is a 2.5m height restriction. Sat Nav: WF1 5QJ

There are 85 spaces for cars in our car park, including larger accessible bays and space for motorcycles and bicycles.

For blue badge holders, we have six disabled spaces on Gallery Walk next to the gallery. Sat Nav: WF1 5AW. There is also a space to lock bicycles alongside the blue badge bays near our main entrance.

Car parking costs - pay and display

8am – 10pm
£2 for up to 90 mins
£4 for up to 9 hours

10pm – 8am
£2 flat fee

The car parking tariff is payable via machine or by phone and accepts credit / debit cards. You can also pay by using the Evology Pay parking app and using location 807615. Our car park uses number plate recognition so please ensure that you enter your full and correct car registration plate details at the pay and display machine or on the app.

Blue badge holders can park for free outside the main entrance accessible via Gallery Walk. The parking tariff does apply for parking in our main car park for all users.

You can become a member to get a yearly car park permit for £25

The Hepworth Wakefield is a charity and car parking fees support our work. All funds generated by car parking enable us to create exceptional and original art experiences for all.

By coach

We don’t have facilities for coach parking, however there is a coach drop off point on Thornes Lane, WF1 5QJ, opposite The Hepworth Wakefield’s car park / at the end of the bridge leading to the gallery – by prior arrangement only.

The nearest pay and display coach park can be found on Tadman Street (WF1 5RG) just 3 minutes drive from the gallery in Wakefield City Centre.

All coach parties should book their visit in advance.
