Tom Lovelace: Willow - a day of performances and workshops

Saturday 10 May, from 11am

FREE

Pre-book for workshops

Join us for a day of performances and workshops with artist Tom Lovelace – with Barbara Hepworth’s The Family of Man and the weeping willow tree on the bank of the River Calder as the backdrop.

Tom Lovelace will stage two performances and a corresponding workshop, open to all, using photography as a tool to explore nature as a space for shelter, refuge and connection.

Two performances will take place during the day, at 11am and 4pm, lasting for 25 minutes. These will take place outside close to Hepworth’s The Family of Man sculptures. Visitors can view the performances from the bridge and café terrace.

Lovelace will also facilitate two public workshops, at 1 and 2pm, open to all, but we particularly encourage students or recent graduates who are interested in photography and/or performance. The workshop will use nature as a starting point to explore themes of shelter, connection, community and protection.

The performances will include a reading from Fiona Stafford’s book, The Long, Long Life of Trees.
