Friday 27 June, 5 - 6pm
Talk & exhibition £24 / Talk only £12 / The Hepworth Wakefield Members & Crafts Council Members £10 (includes exhibition entry) / Live stream (via. Teams) £5
Book NowTo coincide with the opening of The Hepworth Wakefield Ceramics Fair on Saturday 28 June, and in celebration of the Elizabeth Fritsch: Otherworldly Vessels exhibition, we are working in partnership with the Crafts Council to bring together an exciting group of artists and ceramics specialists for a special round table discussion.
This special event will focus on Fritsch’s cohort of ‘New Ceramic’ graduates from the Royal College of Art in the 1970s whose innovations in form and colour had a lasting impact on British studio pottery. The artists will give first hand accounts of their pioneering roles in exploring the sculptural possibilities of ceramics over the last 40 years.
Chaired by writer Isabella Smith, speakers include Alun Graves (Senior Curator of Ceramics & Glass, V&A), as well as ‘New Ceramic’ artists Jacqueline Poncelet and Glenys Barton with exclusive pre-recorded contributions from Elizabeth Fritsch, Alison Britton, and former tutor and Professor of Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, David Queensberry.
Elizabeth Fritsch: Otherworldly Vessels will be open from 6pm until 7pm for event ticket holders to view after the talk.
