The race is on to save Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture for the nation. Without your support, our plinth will remain empty.

Over 88% of the £3.8m needed to save Barbara Hepworth’s Sculpture with Colour (Oval Form) Pale Blue and Red for the nation has been raised in just seven weeks, thanks to major grants and an influx of public donations.

But if the final £440,000 is not raised in the coming weeks this vitally important sculpture will be lost overseas—and our plinth will remain empty.

To date more than 2,000 members of the public have donated gifts ranging from £3 to six-figure sums, bringing ever closer the opportunity to secure this incredibly rare sculpture for permanent public display in Wakefield, Hepworth’s hometown.

A major grant of £1.89m from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible thanks to National Lottery players, provided a vital boost to the appeal, which is led by The Hepworth Wakefield and national charity Art Fund. Art Fund has also pledged an exceptional grant of £750,000 towards the acquisition, with further impactful support from The Forster Foundation, The Headley Trust and the Henry Moore Foundation.

The Hepworth Wakefield and Art Fund are encouraged by the public’s support so far, and welcome further donations of all sizes.

Thank you for your support.
