Sally Barton

Sally Barton is a multidisciplinary artist based in London. Her practice explores her relationship to her hometown of Sheffield, stories of industrial history and masculinity.

Barton aims to reimagine the aesthetics of the North of England through photography, performance and installation.

Barton graduated from Chelsea College of Arts in 2021 and has spent the last two years as a member of the Barbican Young Visual Arts Group. She has exhibited with the Barbican on three occasions, and is currently a member of the ACME Associate Studio Programme.

About working with Hannah Starkey, Barton said:
‘I have admired Hannah Starkey and her work since I was young and to be mentored by her has been a real honour. Not only has Hannah’s input been influential on my photographic practice, I have also been shaped by some amazing women and nonbinary artists from and based in my home county of Yorkshire. Home is an important theme in my work and I was eager to connect with other artists in Yorkshire.’
