The Hepworth Wakefield WIN at White Rose Awards
09 Oct 2012
The Hepworth Wakefield is delighted to have won the ‘Arts & Culture’ White Rose Award on Monday 1 October. This is the first year that the new ‘Arts & Culture’ category has been introduced to the biggest tourism awards in the UK, run by official tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire.
The gallery beat stiff competition from the other finalists in the ‘Arts & Culture’ category, that included:
Alhambra Theatre, Bradford
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield
Northern Ballet, Leeds – (Highly Commended)
The Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield
The Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate
Ferens Art Gallery – David Hockney: Bigger Trees, Hull
It was a special night for Wakefield, with our colleagues at Wakefield Tourist Information Centre winning the ‘Visitor Information Award.’
