The Hepworth Wakefield marks 15th birthday with three new artist editions by Linder

14 May 2026

The Hepworth Wakefield is marking its 15th birthday this May with the release of three very special artist editions by Linder.

Linder has reimagined her 2020 School Prints lithograph, Spirit Wash, to create a series of three individual photomontages which incorporate hand-collaged elements. Each is an edition of one.

Exclusive to The Hepworth Wakefield, each unique photomontage is signed and numbered by the artist.  Profits raised through the sale of all our editions support the gallery’s mission to create exceptional art experiences that enhance  lives.

For her self-titled 2013 exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield, Linder employed collage as two-dimensional prints and three-dimensional light-box sculptures. Drawing on her research into Barbara Hepworth, the 2013 works combined images of ballerinas from the 1970s with natural forms. The works made reference to Hepworth’s love of dance and her engagement with the landscape. The exhibition culminated in a major new performance piece entitled The Ultimate Form that presented collage as a visual and sensory experience using choreography and music.

The original Spirit Wash from 2020, and the newly reimagined versions, continue themes established throughout Linder’s career. She has been working with the principles of collage for over four decades: from her two-dimensional work on 1970s post-punk posters and record sleeves to more recent collages presented in light-boxes.

Linder’s original contribution to School Prints remains a  much-loved part of the project and her reflections at the time – ‘it is so important that all children get to experience art and have the opportunity to express themselves creatively’ – continue to speak directly to the heart of our work with schools in Wakefield.

The Hepworth Wakefield is also marking its 15th anniversary by offering a rare opportunity to purchase the only remaining edition of some of the most popular releases over the last 15 years. If you missed out on a past work by artists including Andrew Cranston, Jadé Fadojutimi and Rachel Jones, this could be the opportunity to fill that gap in your collection.

The new editions by Linder and works from our editions archive can be purchased at this week’s London Original Print Fair, where the gallery will be participating from 14 to 17 May.

‘We are so grateful to Linder and all the artists who have generously donated their time and creativity over the last 15 years to support our work. The funding climate for public galleries like The Hepworth Wakefield is incredibly challenging and sales of our artists editions is an important strand of our earned income that helps us continue to deliver ambitious and enticing exhibitions and find ways to inspire the creativity in everyone, especially our local children through our long-running School Prints programme. If you have ever wanted to buy a piece of art for your home, this is the perfect opportunity to secure an outstanding artist’s work, while contributing to a bright future for The Hepworth Wakefield’ Olivia Colling, Executive Director
