Summer Art Club

Mon 12 - Thurs 15 August 2019, 10am - 4.30pm

This summer, children can join us to explore artworks, make and play with artist Jo Blaker.

Art Club participants will try out experimental drawing, mark making, sculpture building, print making and textile techniques inspired by the artworks in Yorkshire Sculpture International.

£120 for all four days (a 15% discount is available for siblings attending the Summer Art Club)

DAY ONE: Mon 12 August 
Get to know the group with creative games and fun activities

Gallery activity: explore spaces, artworks and ideas through drawing and making.

Outdoor/studio activity: Hapa-zome printing process with fabric and natural materials, playful making and string pull ink pictures.

DAY TWO: Tues 13 August 
Gallery activity: considering materials, explore ideas through drawing and sculptural assemblage.

Outdoor/studio activity: large scale sculpture building with different materials; make your own drawing tools using natural materials and creating giant drawings; cyanotype printing

DAY THREE: Wed 14 August 
Gallery activity: collecting shapes in the permanent Hepworth sculpture galleries and making 3D wire drawings

Outdoor/studio activity: fabric painting and printing, exploring ways to make texture

DAY FOUR: Thurs 15 August 
Outdoor/studio activity: collaging ink drawings and string prints onto sculptures or free art play with a variety of materials; simple quilt making using textiles and paper inspired by Tau Lewis’s artworks

The week will end in a celebration/sharing exhibition in the learning studio for parents, families and friends to attend.

Please note that activities may change in response to the group’s interests, pace and needs.





Suitable for children aged 7 – 11 years old.

There is no need to accompany your child on this course. Children will be accompanied by a member of staff at all times and all staff working on the course are DBS checked.

Snacks and drinks are provided at break times but please provide your child with a packed lunch or money to buy lunch from The Hepworth Cafe.

Additional Information
An information pack will be sent out to parents/carers 10 days before the Art Club detailing drop off information, lunch arrangements etc and will include forms to collect data around emergency contacts, access requirements etc.
