Join Samantha Yates of Lil’ Rabbitfoot in this Tiffany stained glass copper leaf workshop to create beautiful glass botanical arrangements inspired the The Hepworth Wakefield Garden.
After learning the Health and Safety precautions required when working with glass, participants will mock up a simple leaf to work through a series of essential skills and basic techniques such as cutting, grinding, copper foiling and soldering. You will then develop your own ideas for varied and unique glass leaves, referencing the Garden, and produce a unique arrangement of sun catchers for your home or garden.
About the tutor
Yorkshire based stained glass artist Samantha Yates is inspired by the fact we are so genetically programmed to connect with nature, that we experience a feeling of satisfaction, when we strip the seeds from a stalk of grass.
Each piece of her work is individual, rich in its handmade character, a result of her fascination with presenting the glass to the light through botanical forms, patterns and structures.
The natural environment has always been a focus for her, she has been teaching Horticulture at an FE college for over 10 years and has a degree in Environmental Science.
