Under the guidance of print designer Ellie Way, participants will use our new exhibition Yorkshire Sculpture International and The Hepworth Wakefield Garden as inspiration to create a collection of drawings, marks and textures. Participants will then use their findings to create a series of abstract sculptural collages which; on day two At the Art House Print Studio, Ellie will guide you through how to expose and screen print onto paper.
About the Tutor
After graduating in 2016 from Printed Textiles at Leeds College of Art, Ellie Way launched her design label WAY and shortly afterward set up a studio at The Art House.
Ellie is inspired by the visual acoustics of everyday living. She likes to draw spaces around her and explore the forms, textures and colours through screen to create printed patterns that can be reintegrated into the home. It is the passion for printing processes that really motivates her as a designer.
Ellie has since exhibited at New Designers in London, Premiere Vision in Paris, Heimtextils in Frankfurt and Mood in Brussels. Ellie is now practicing as a freelance print designer/display artist and work for a variety of clients including Anthropologie and John Lewis. When she’s not freelancing or printing for her own label, she leads various design and print workshops, delivering talks and support on ‘life after uni’ to third years at Leeds College of Art or supporting the members of The Art House Print Studio.
