Schools & Colleges: Surrealism Masterclass

Suitable for Year 8 - 12 Art & Design Students
Bring your class to the gallery to study surrealism. Maximum 15 students per school.
Students will study our contemporary exhibitions on Lee Miller and Vivian Sassen to explore the surrealist movement in Britain.
Students will work with Anne-Louise Quinton and Vincent James to discover what makes art surreal and learn more about the surrealist movement. They will discover surrealism through a series of facilitated discussions and practical tasks in the gallery as well as producing their own drawings and sculpture in response to the artwork on display.
Please ask students to bring a packed lunch. Materials and refreshments provided.
9.45am: Arrive at the gallery
10am: Introduction and key note speaker
11am – 12.30pm: Explore the exhibition and practical activities in the gallery
12 – 1pm: Lunch
1 – 2.30pm: Practical masterclass in the learning studios

Free of charge (Cancellation fee applies*).
Places will be offered on a first come first served basis.
In the event of cancellation, a notification of cancellation should be sent to the Learning Team in writing, either by post or email (email@example.com). If you notify us of the cancellation of your booking less than 14 days before the event (or any part thereof), including failure to turn up on the day, you will incur a charge of £10 per student cancelled.
We reserve the right to cancel any booking in the event of the gallery being unexpectedly closed, e.g. due to extreme weather conditions
