Get hands on and enjoy playful making with clay with artist Jennyanne Smith. Experiment with textures and shapes inspired by our ceramics exhibition Daughters of Necessity: Serena Korda & Wakefield’s Ceramics.
The gallery and our activities for families can be busy during school holidays and weekends. To help us facilitate an enjoyable experience for all of our visitors we ask that groups of 5 or more children let us know when they plan to visit by contacting the Learning Team on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01924 247398.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 2 – 12, who must be accompanied by an adult.
You will be asked to collect an activity kit from the Learning Studios and go up to the gallery before starting the activity.
This workshop will be closed over lunch from 12.30 – 1pm. Last admittance to the activity will be at 3.30pm.
“I enjoyed the freedom to choose activities – there was some structure, but children were free to express themselves and experiment.
“Staff were all friendly and engaging. It was great that it linked to exhibitions – I liked the idea of embracing imperfections. It was a good way for my child to observe forms, make mistakes, but still create beautiful artwork.”
“It was lovely that we could spend time together and see how involved our son got in working the clay.“
