The Hepworth Wakefield Print Fair 2023 - open call for artists

Open call for artists, designers and makers to take part in our Print Fair, 25 - 26 March 2023,  10am – 5pm. Deadline for applications: Midday on Thursday 26 January 2023.

We are delighted to announce that our popular Print Fair returns to the newly-created event space at Tileyard North, the refurbished textile mill opposite the gallery, following the huge success of our Festive Market in November and December 2022.

The Print Fair will host around 60 stalls, featuring artists, collectives and galleries displayed across table top stalls and booths.

Applications are welcomed from emerging and established UK-based artists, textile designers and illustrators working in screen print, etching, monoprint, giclee, risograph, lithograph, collagraph, linocut, letterpress and other print media.  

The weekend will also feature family activities and special offers in The Hepworth Wakefield shop and café to ensure a well attended, vibrant event. 

Applications are made via Curatorspace. Please read the details below before applying.

Stall details

Standard stall: £150 

220 x 130cm, with optional 183 x 76cm wooden topped trestle table.

Large Stall: £222 

Standard stall + 2 x (100cm x 280cm) display boards.

Booth: £300 

Standard stall + 5 x (100cm x 280cm) display boards.

Double Booth: £600

2 x Booths.

All prices are inclusive of VAT.

What press and marketing will The Hepworth Wakefield undertake?

Exhibitors will be prominently listed on The Hepworth Wakefield’s website and promoted through a variety of content on the gallery’s sector-leading social media platforms: Twitter (82k followers); Instagram (87k followers); Facebook (32k followers), as well as in regular e-newsletters sent to our subscribers.

The Hepworth Wakefield has a strong track record of securing media coverage for its fairs and markets, offering a further opportunity to profile participants. Media coverage received for previous fairs included Art Daily, Crafts Council, Elle Decoration, The Guardian, Time Out and Yorkshire Post.   

Do I need insurance?

Yes, all stallholders must have Public Liability insurance to the value of £5 million. Axisweb Network Associate membership includes free PPL insurance up to £5 million. 

Where will the market take place?

The market will take place in a converted mill space adjacent to the gallery, part of the Tileyard North development. Stalls will be set up the day before the fair opens. Full details regarding set up and take down will be sent in advance of the event.

Is there a fee to participate?

Stall fees are listed above. The figures are inclusive of VAT. Fees must be paid in advance to guarantee a place. Makers selected for participation will be informed of payment deadlines. Fees support the running of the fair and our work to create art experiences that inspire, captivate and enhance lives.  

How do I apply?

Applications are made through Curatorspace only, via this link. You will be asked to send up to 5 images of your products and your stall at previous fairs.

What dates and times can I attend?

The fair takes place Saturday 25 – Sunday 26 March 2023 and exhibitors will be required to participate on both days.

Who can apply?

All UK-based artists working with print may apply. The fair supports printed editions in a range of print media, along with printed textiles and editioned illustrations. Fine art paintings, or stalls containing solely digital reproductions of artworks and illustrations, are not suitable for the event. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your work in advance and ensure it is appropriate for the fair.

How are exhibitors selected?

Exhibitors are selected by a panel comprising The Hepworth Wakefield team members with comprehensive experience of curating, exhibiting, promoting, commissioning, and retailing work by a artists and makers at all levels of experience. Exhibitors are selected to ensure that the fair presents a range of styles and approaches to printmaking, by artists and makers working at a range of levels and from all professional and educational backgrounds. We encourage applications from independent artists, collectives and galleries.
