Alex Sickling first started making ceramics while studying Visual Communication at Leeds Arts University, translating her illustrations into something more tangible by working with clay. She has been making and selling online and at markets since 2012 and works from her home studio in Gateshead. While some pieces make use of moulds, much of her work is hand built, meaning no ornament is the same and buyers receive something completely unique.
Alex is interested in folk art and gains inspiration from art galleries in whichever city she visits, as well as making work based on animals including her Cockapoo Olive! She also takes on commissions. Alex will be showing new pieces for the market this year along with Christmas decorations, nativity scenes and her sell-out mini snowmen.
Alex has worked with clients including The Conran Shop, Anthroplogie and The New Craftsmen, and has work stocked at The Hepworth Wakefield and independent design shops across the UK.
